Investment in machining centers, injection molding machines and complete molds is projected to increase significantly in 2015. Our latest capital spending survey reveals the trends leading to this upswing.
According to the 2014 Metalworking and Plastic Capital Spending Surveys by Gardner Research, facilities that subscribe to MoldMaking Technology will spend $2.5 billion on metalworking equipment, tooling and workholding, primary processing equipment, auxiliary equipment, molds,software and testing equipment.
With a reading of 56.0, the MoldMaking Business Index showed that the moldmaking industry expanded for the fifth straight month and the seventh time in eight months. The rate of growth in May was the industry’s fastest since March 2012. The industry has been on an upward trend since August 2013. The month-over-month rate of change was 11.3% in May, which is the fastest rate of month-over-month growth since November 2013. The annual rate of change has grown at an accelerating rate each of the last three months.
