Mersen USA offers its complete family of EDM graphite, including its ultra-fine DS4 graphite. The company says DS4 is a proven EDM graphite that can be trusted for tough jobs. DS4 delivers a good surface finish and wear resistance, is easy to machine into intricate detail and is strong. Mersen's DS4 offers precision and consistency for high-end EDM machining.
The graphite is used as the electrode which acts as a “cutting tool” in the sinker EDM, a machining process often used by moldmakers. The company says its line of EDM graphite can benefit moldmakers as it offers consistency and cost savings.
Also highlighted by Mersen is its DS4C, a copper-impregnated EDM graphite material. DS4C provides ultra-low electrical resistivity and ultra-high thermal
conductivity, which enables a more stable burn for those difficult-to-machine materials.
