Moldflow analysis services company CAE Services Corp. says it is able to take the guesswork out of the Kentucky Windage process by determining and delivering the proper windage shape ready to cut into a user’s mold block, potentially saving months of rework and tens of thousands of dollars in the process.
CAE Services reports that it has the most Expert-Certified Moldflow engineers in the world. The company applies that expertise to find the optimal combination between part design, mold design and processing conditions to minimize warpage. Using Moldflow, CAE Services’ engineering team is able to find the amount of windage required to bring the part back to flat. From there, they morph the original CAD data to the pre-determined windage shape, keeping all necessary geometric features in the line of die draw.
The result, notes the company, is a highly-engineered mold design that takes advantage of Moldflow calculations to virtually eliminate warpage from occurring.
