Metrology-Grade 3D Scanner Delivers 12-Micron Benchmark Accuracy
Optimized manufacturing and calibration processes enable Creaform’s flagship HandySCAN Black | Elite Limited 3D scanners to set new industry standards for handheld metrology devices.
Creaform, a business unit of Ametek Inc. and manufacturer of portable 3D measurement solutions and engineering services, has added a high-accuracy handheld scanner — the HandySCAN Black | Elite Limited — to this series’ lineup. The portable scanner’s manufacturing and calibration processes have been optimized over the last decade via feedback from suppliers and thousands of industrial customers, Creaform notes.
Design specifically to address the needs of the most demanding dimensional metrology professionals in the industrial and manufacturing sectors, the HandySCAN Black | Elite Limited can tackle any quality control or product development applications where tolerances require increased accuracy, while remaining portable and flexible. Creaform says it is twice as accurate as the HandySCAN Black|Elite, assessed through an ISO 17025-accredited calibration, based on VDI/VDE 2634 part 3 standard.
The metrology solution provides an accuracy of 0.012 mm (0.0005"), and offers a Offers a volumetric accuracy of 0.012 mm +0.020 mm/m. Powered by smart resolution and integrated photogrammetry, HandySCAN Black | Elite Limited highlights fine details and high curvature. Eleven blue laser crosses enhance scanning speed on difficult surfaces. Portable, lightweight, simple and versatile, it is especially ideal for Creaform application software, such as VXmodel module for scan-to-CAD, VXinspect module for dimensional inspection and VXintegrity NDT software platform for nondestructive testing (NDT) applications.
HandySCAN Black | Elite Limited was fully developed and is manufactured in Creaform’s ISO 9000 headquarters in Canada, where it maintains an ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory in-house. The solution is available for delivery.
