Plustech, Inc., the North American Branch of Sodick, Inc.’s IMM Division, now offers a line of two-shot machines that are additions to the already existing GL Series, horizontal injection molding machine line. Sodick did offer the two-shot machines in the past as a special configuration, although it is now a standard ‘off the shelf’ part of the line-up.
The GL Series with second injection capability is the latest addition to Plustech’s line-up of horizontal injection molding machines. Sodick says this high-performance model offers excellent repeatability and accurate plasticization. The machine provides advanced injection for micro features with extremely tight tolerances. It includes Sodick’s V-Line two-stage plunger system, which separates the plasticization and injection processes for consistent measurement and injection of the melt stream. The V-Line, Two-Stage Plunger second injection capability provides added value for two-shot precision molding applications. The second injection capability is ideal for micro molding applications that require tight tolerances. Machinists can vertically mount or side mount the added injection unit depending on the need of the application. The second injection unit provides a shot size ranging from 2cc to 27cc and is available for various material types, including LSR. The new GL Series two-shot machines are available in 30 tons, 60 tons, 100 tons, 150 tons and 200 tons.
