Omega Tool Exhibits Enhanced Mold Building and Sampling Equipment, Services
Omega Tool has invested in new equipment, machines and team members for increased mold building and sampling capabilities and capacity which it will showcase at Amerimold 2021.
As a family-owned business in its third generation of leadership, Omega Tool Inc. says it is the ideal plastic injection mold builder for tooling and molding needs, including medical, packaging and light industrial molds. With 67 years of experience and an expert team comprised of designers, lead-men, toolmakers and apprentices, Omega Tool notes that it is dedicated to provide on-time delivery of the highest quality, tight tolerance, U.S.-built molds.
Omega Tool reports that it leads the way with current technology to ensure the best possible mold building and sampling experience. For example, in the past year, the company has added to its wide array of machines with an additional $1.6 million dollars of new equipment, for increased capabilities and capacity.
The most recent purchases include:
• An Okuma Horizontal CNC machining center with dual pallet changer
• Okamoto surface grinder
• Okamoto internal ID grinder
• Mazak Lathe with live-tooling
• 75k rpm Air Turbines for high-speed milling
• Kitamura 42 x 80’’ bridge mill for mold base manufacturing
• CNC EDM drilling machine
In addition to new mold builds, Omega Tools’ service department is managed by five lead moldmakers for engineering changes, repairs and preventative maintenance (PM) assistance.
Omega Tool has also invested in its mold sampling department with equipment, machines and additional team members. The company’s samples consist of functional testing to full process development as well as sampling for other tool shops and molders.
The mold sample technology center includes two process engineers trained in RJG; four presses ranging from 35-645 tons dedicated to mold trials; a 10-ton overhead crane; color blenders; dryers; a moisture analyzer; hydraulic core pull buggy; hot runner controllers; center supports for stack tooling; robotic sprue picker; and production conveyors.
All departments are controlled by Omega Tools’ custom ERP software to facilitate scheduling coordination.
