Virtual Reality Training for Injection Molding Industry

Kruse Analysis aims to create VR training opportunities for the injection molding industry and to prepare users for work on an actual shop floor.

Kruse Analysis is developing the first fully functional molding shop floor virtual reality (VR) solution. The company’s goal is to create VR training opportunities for the injection molding industry and to prepare users for work on an actual shop floor. Molding Expert VR molding courses are being developed to support a molding company’s overall design and hands-on process training initiatives.

The new Molding Expert training initiative will enable injection molding engineers to evaluate new mold designs in a virtual environment. In this virtual space, engineers can assemble and disassemble a mold to learn about its design and functionality. They can then take the mold to the machine and work through individual mold installation and processing tasks such as water hook-ups, the installation of peripheral devices, preparing the polymer material and beginning the mold set-up and process development. Molding Expert is creating a space for engineers to learn and master these tasks in a virtual environment.

Additionally, the Molding Fundamentals section of Kruse Training is now available in Latin-American Spanish. The translated website will soon offer the full inventory of Kruse lessons. Kruse is partnering with Roberto Hernández, president of RHL Plastics in Tijuana, Mexico, to translate and ensure the accuracy of the content.

Kruse Training is a sponsor for the inaugural MoldMaking Conference to be held November 8-9, 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This will be an essential educational event for mold manufacturers, and Kruse will be presenting and sharing Molding Expert VR training specifically focusing on molds at the event. Torsten Kruse will present the evolution of training, the importance of utilizing optimization technologies (DFM, DOE), the trend towards hybrid training, as well as an in-depth look at the research behind the new Molding Expert VR initiative.

In addition, Kruse took time at last month’s PTXPO 2022 to announce the two winners of its Oculus Quest 2 VR headset giveaway: Greg Homann of NYX Inc. and Mike Busser of EVCO Plastics.
