Patrick Roussey II Named 2023 Mold Maker of the Year
The SPE Mold Technologies Division awarded the Mayer Tool & Engineering moldmaker recipient for his lifelong commitment and contribution to the moldmaking and plastics industry.

During last week’s Plastics Technology Expo (PTXPO) 2023, Richard Evans, owner/injection mold designer at Reaction Plastics Solutions LLC and SPE Mold Technologies Division chair-elect, presented Patrick Roussey II of Mayer Tool & Engineering Inc. as the 2023 Mold Maker of the Year.
Roussey II was the recipient of the award due to his lifelong commitment to the moldmaking and plastics industry. The award recognizes somebody in the moldmaking industry with exceptional knowledge, advanced technical capabilities and contributions to the company and the entire community. Roussey II was nominated by his team at Mayer Tool.
Roussey II’s moldmaking journey began in 1996 at Mayer Tool, where he started as an apprentice at 24. While training on the floor he learned the many facets of the trade. He soon worked his way through the shop from a full-time moldmaker to shop foreman, project manager and president before eventually buying the company in 2020.
With over a quarter-century spent in the industry, Roussey II’s focus has always been on his customers and helping advance the future generation of moldmakers. Roussey II emphasizes providing educational and learning opportunities for younger men and women interested in joining the industry.
The SPE Mold Maker of the Year award was generously sponsored by Hasco America and includes a $1,000 donation to an industry training center chosen by the recipient. Roussey II has elected to give the donation to the local Sturgis High School (SHS) Manufacturing Program. He plans for Mayer Tool to partner with the SHS Manufacturing Program to design and build an injection mold from concept to sampling.
Roussey II is honored to receive this award from SPE and hopes to continue to give back to the industry that has given him so much throughout the years.
