Open Mind Technologies announced it will be Grob Systems Inc.'s exclusive CAM partner at Five-AXiS LiVE!, a Grob technology event featuring eight Grob partners. Open Mind will feature the latest release of its advanced hyperMILL CAM software (version 2019.2), offering significant advantages when five-axis machining. Two parts programmed with hyperMILL will be showcased at the event, including a complex aerospace component and mold.
The event is scheduled for August 20, 2019 at Grob's production facility in Bluffton, Ohio from 9:00 a.m. through 6:30 p.m. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. attendees are welcome to arrive for breakfast and networking. The event is complimentary and manufacturing professionals are encouraged to attend. For more details and to register, click here.
Attendees will learn how to expand their machining capabilities and discover new ideas for business growth at this one-day special event. A plant tour, informative seminars, and intriguing five-axis machining demonstrations are all on the day's agenda. Mr. Greg Jones, vice president of smartforce development at The Association for Manufacturing Technology will give a keynote presentation.
The hyperMILL MAXX machining finishing module, a performance package of the hyperMILL CAM software suite, will be highlighted during the company’s demonstration. hyperMILL MAXX machining enables the use of conical barrel cutter technology to reduce cycle times over 90% and is ideal for planar, ruled and curved surfaces often found in complex five-Axis components. A new five-axis Prismatic fillet finishing function in hyperMILL MAXX Machining facilitates the geometry and automatic inclination of barrel cutters to be applied similarly to high feed cutters, using a plunging and pulling movement at extremely high feed rates. hyperMILL MAXX machining offers three powerful modules for finishing, roughing and drilling.
Open Mind is the only CAM vendor offering "factory-approved" postprocessors. The postprocessors are embedded/ integrated in hyperMILL for efficiency and ease-of-use. The hyperMILL CAM solution calculates toolpaths independently of machine and controller, and users can generate NC programs from this neutral data that are optimized to meet application requirements and matched with the machines and controllers to be used.
