Mazak will host its annual Discover More With Mazak Event at its Midwest Technology Center in Schaumburg, Illinois, May 1–3, 2018. Mazak says that this highly interactive learning event will give attendees an opportunity to explore the latest manufacturing technologies and techniques that can elevate a shop’s level of productivity.
Event attendees will experience the capabilities of 19 of Mazak’s milling, turning, five-axis and multi-tasking machines, including one of its latest, the VC-500A/5X vertical machining center, as application engineers perform a variety of real-life part cutting demonstrations. Mazak says that with a trunnion-style rotary/tilt table and new 60-tool capacity magazine, the VC-500A/5X enables the accurate, cost-effective processing of small complex parts via full five-axis machining and reduces valuable set-up time. At the event, several machines, including the Quick Turn 250 and the QT-Primos 100 turning centers, will be paired with cost-effective automation systems. Mazak says it will highlight these pairs to demonstrate how easy it is to gain versatility, flexibility and productivity with the right automation solution. For example, Mazak says that the Quick Turn 250 will feature a prepackaged robotic loading system that maximizes profit potential by enabling unmanned operation, while the high-speed, high-accuracy and high-torque QT-Primos 100 will have a gantry loader that speeds loading and unloading.
At the event, Mazak and its Value Inspired Partners (VIPs) will present the latest information on emerging technologies that are changing the manufacturing landscape. Attendees will see the advantages of Smooth Technology, a process-performance platform that incorporates Mazak’s line of Mazatrol SmoothX, SmoothG and SmoothC controls, automation and plant-wide connectivity. Esprit, LNS America, MEMEX and Sandvik will also conduct multiple presentations in the Technology Center on complementary technologies for Mazak machines to create more innovative products and turnkey processes. Additionally, Mazak says that attendees will discover how easy it is to securely enter the world of IIoT with the Mazak SmartBox. This scalable, end-to-end solution connects manufacturing equipment, including machines, software and other devices, to a factory’s network and enables the free flow of information to management systems via MTConnect.
