Tour at Hurco Anniversary Celebration Reveals IMTS Preview
In 2018, Hurco celebrates 50 years in business as a provider of CNC machine tools. In honor of this milestone, Hurco had a 50-year anniversary open house with festivities and a technology tour that included the items the company will display at IMTS2018.
Last week, I visited Hurco’s global headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the company’s 50th anniversary celebration. Festivities included technology tours, a five-axis technology seminar with Hurco’s Mike Cope, remote control race car racing, corn hole, food, drinks and cake.
One of them was the BX50i double column machining center (see slideshow), which Hurco will have on display at IMTS2018. The BX50i incorporates Takumi technology and was designed for high speeds and tight tolerances. It has an 18,000 rpm-spindle, 47 horsepower, 88 ft/lb peak torque. It has a rapid traverse along its X, Y and Z axes that moves at 39 meters per minute. The stability of the column and the ladder design of the Z axis enable this machine to provide surface finish capabilities that Dave Plank says can spare the machinist the need to provide post-machining surface polishing. Therefore, the surface finish capabilities of this center make the BX50i suitable for die and mold applications. This center is a “big brother” to the BX40i, which Hurco had in its showroom.
Check out the slideshow to see other products and activities that Hurco featured at its headquarters for the celebration. Happy anniversary, Hurco!
And, just for fun, check out this cool beer tap that Hurco machined for Bottoms Up Beer:
