Sodick Inc. introduces the Sodick AL G Series Rigid linear motor-driven die-sinker EDM featuring its new High Performance SP Controller.
Fast and accurate for precision parts and molds, the next-generation precision die-sinker EDM incorporates a combination of the Rigid linear motor control technology—said to be the latest discharge control technology—and artificial intelligence. Among its enhanced features are Sodick’s “SP Power Supply,” “Arc-less 4 Circuit” and “LN Professional AI software.”
United Grinding offers two cylindrical grinding machines, the Studer S41 (universal) and the Studer S131R (radius internal).
For complete machining of large workpieces, the Studer S41 offers advanced technology well suited for manufacturing dies, where tungsten carbide and ceramic part materials dominate production. The machine allows shops to generate diameters, cones and transitional radii with polished surface quality through B and X/Z axis interpolation.
The Studer S131R is said to excel in general grinding applications and the production of complex workpieces made from hard materials, along with hydraulic components such as axial pump pistons, guide plates and housings from hardened steel, cast iron and copper. The machine also handles single-clamping production of complex workpieces with tapers between 20º and 90º.
NC machine tool manufacturer Okuma America Corp. debuts the MCR-S double column machining center (DCMC), which roughs and finishes press dies in one setup and is designed for heavy-duty machining of process-intensive press dies. It features full 5-face and 5-axis machining and is excellent for die repair work.
The MCR-S is also said to accommodate a wide range of stamping die requirements making it an ideal fit for the automotive and aerospace industries. It can easily handle hardened cast iron, nonferrous and exotic materials.
Heidenhain debuts the EnDat 3 encoder interface protocol, which is said to offer users faster and more efficient machine motion control operation. The interface is available in the company’s ExI 1100 series of inductive rotary encoders.
Heidenhain says the EnDat 3 preserves the features and benefits known to previous versions, while offering interface advancements. This includes new ECI 1119 and EQI 1131 rotary encoders that can communicate over two wires with the drive/control.
The Walter USA Xtra-tec XT M5130 shoulder milling cutter family has been expanded and revised, featuring a new mounting position for inserts, 17% more teeth and a 7-degree clearance angle for improved tool body productivity and strength.
The M5130 handles a wide array of machining operations including face, shoulder, ramping and pocket milling, as well as circular interpolation operations. Walter says this mill family is well suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous material and materials with difficult cutting properties.
Ingersoll Cutting Tools’ new TwistSFeed drill family features a three-flute quick-change tip with an upgraded clamping mechanism designed to maximize productivity. Unlike conventional three-flute solid carbide drills, Ingersoll says, TwistSFeed utilizes a self-centering point to ensure optimal performance, precision and stability for all applications.
Further extending the capabilities of high efficiency milling, Tungaloy America has expanded its MillQuadFeed high feed milling cutter series by adding new grades and cutter body options for its SWMT09 insert range.
According to the company, MillQuadFeed is a new generation of high feed milling cutters, offering two options of insert geometries that cover various high feed milling application needs.
