At Plastec West / MD&M West, in Anaheim, California, Matrix Tooling/Matrix Plastic Products showcased examples of the molded products it manufacturers for use in a variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Also at Plastec West / MD&M West, Husky showcased offerings through its Schöttli division, which provides high-quality molds and tooling for a variety of medical and laboratory parts, including injection systems, infusion and transfusion therapy, health and hospital care, and diagnostic parts.

Custom Mold & Design designs and manufactures fully interchangeable, fast-cycling, high-precision molds, including injection, multi-cavity, two-shot, metal injection, silicone, micro and ceramic molds.

Incoe displayed its small, hydraulically actuated HEM cylinder at Plastec West. The mold component allows the shut-off valve pin to be adjusted in the mold without removal of the mold top clamp plate.

NAK 80 from International Mold Steel and Daido Steel is a pre-hardened mold steel (38-42 HRC) designed to be machined 10-15 percent faster than P20 steel.

Sunstone and its Orion Welders division offer several models of resistance, micro-TIG (pulse-arc) and laser technologies, all capable of welding, cutting, or marking at microscopic levels.

At Plastec West / MD&M West, Emerson featured the Branson Ultrasonic 2000Xc, an ultrasonic welder offering advanced assembly solutions for medical device manufacturers.

Alltec GmbH FOBA Laser Marking + Engraving brand introduces its M2000 laser marking workstation, which features an integrated vision alignment and verification system that automatically detects devices and their positioning, and aligns marks relative to a part’s position.

This week’s showcase is like Chef's Surprise because it offers up a variety of interesting new products for moldmaking, and even a few about moldmaking from companies that promoted their services during Plastec West/MD&M, held earlier this month. Some products are simply "hot off the presses", too. It’s an MMT Surprise Showcase, with this editor’s picks for the week.
