Dave DiCarlo, Tooling Engineer/Technician for NYX Inc. blasts through these 5 questions:
1 How do you create and maintain an employee-centered culture?
Constant communication and open-door policy. Ensure everyone is included and provide information when asked. No one likes to feel “out of the loop” or worried about asking a question. So if they want to offer suggestions or are curious about certain procedures, we listen and communicate with everyone.
2 What are your top 3 best technology investments and why?
- Computer software.
- Machining capabilities for reduced build time.
- Web-based meetings, which limits travel expenses and on-site availability.
3 What is your latest process improvement?
Upgrading an EDM controller for improved efficiency and installing a high-speed machining center.
4 How do you measure success?
Everyone getting along, no lay-offs or high turn-over. I strongly believe in team philosophy. I want every member of our team to be successful and the only way we can be successful is by continuing to fine-tune our craft of mold designing and mold building.
5 How do you stay competitive?
Attention to detail, constant communication with the customer and quick feedback. Also meeting customer’s costs, timing and expectations. Gaining new business is always challenging.
