Meet Adam Nartker. Adam is the business development manager of plastic injection molds for Diversified Technologies International (DTI) in Livonia, Michigan. DTI offers complete mold engineering, manufacturing and program management services from conceptual part design to product realization. Its areas of expertise include Class A, tight-tolerance, two-shot, functional and insert-molded components. DTI applies a disciplined and systematic approach to simulation iterations, mold and process design from the plastics point of view. It considers itself a team of experts in process development and transfer using sensor technology and process transfer workbooks.
DTI has moldmaking facilities in Zhongshan, China, and Ho Chi Man City in Vietnam, with more than 150 employees at each facility and decades of experience building molds for the North American market. Molds are tuned overseas, engineered and forecasted to run in customer presses upon mold delivery. With its value-added tool launch support, DTI will forecast a customer’s specific production machine’s settings to produce the product as designed and simulated, reducing risk and allowing fast PPAP approval.
“The DTI team and I have insight into offshore tooling services deeply ingrained in North America’s moldmaking industry,” Nartker says. “We experience and overcome many of the same mold design, build and performance challenges faced by North American mold builders. As a result, we can share these lessons learned and new approaches.”
Adam has 10 years of experience in custom molding, setting up and process engineering of new and existing molds. He also collaborates daily with mold shops on mold design, build, repair and maintenance. In addition, Adam has 10 years of experience in technical business development with hot runner systems, cavity pressure and temperature sensors for injection molds. Adam is focused on new tooling sales, design and builds that use various technologies.
Adam has worked more than 20 years in diverse roles within the plastic injection molding industry, is certified in manufacturing management from Sinclair Community College and is a certified RJG Master Molder I (MMI).
Serving on MMT’s EAB, Adam hopes to make the industry more aware of DTI while networking with like-minded professionals.
“I am thrilled and grateful to participate on the EAB for MoldMaking Technology, where everyone values a commitment to sharing thoughts, ideas, best practices, technologies, knowledge and success with the whole industry,” Nartker says.
Adam is married to his wife, Amy, and is the father of four daughters from 2-14 years old. He is a motorcyclist and has been riding various dirt and street bikes for years. He currently rides a BMW K1300S.
“Motorcycling is a wonderful way to see the world and forget about the stresses from work and life,” Nartker notes. “In a world where my attention is pulled in so many directions at once, going for a quiet ride on a curvy countryside road can help to reset my focus.”
