End Mill Series Committed to High Hardness Steels
OSG USA AE-CR-MS-H end mill and Phoenix PXM-PXSH exchangeable head end mill series can machine steels from 50-70 HRC, a common range seen in moldmaking.
OSG USA introduces two series additions to its cutting tools product line that are advantageous for moldmakers, the AE-CR-MS-H end mill, and Phoenix PXM-PXSH exchangeable head end mill.
The AE-CR-MS-H series is ideal for the everyday mold builder because of the quality and longevity that can be achieved when cutting hardened steels above 50 HRC, according to the company. This is a very common hardness range for moldmakers to come in contact with. With the addition of a corner radius, OSG has further extended tool life. The multi-flute square type and radius type carbide end mills are designed for stable and high-efficiency milling with variable indexing to suppress chatter.
Phoenix PXM-PXSH is an exchangeable head end mill series designed for many materials typically seen in the mold and die industry — alloy steels, die steels and hardened steels up to 70 HRC. PXSH’s unique cutting edge geometry enables increased machining efficiency and stability, making it ideal for high-speed finishing of hardened steels. By incorporating OSG’s solid-tool accuracy and Durorey coating, PXSH can be utilized in applications requiring high precision and stable tool life. This series achieve radial runout of less than 15µm and axial repeatability of ±30µm, ensuring repeatability.
