Bales Metal Surface Solutions, delivering metal surface coatings and surface finishes that protect the life of molds, dies, tooling and components, has launched three digital tools designed to help manufacturers learn about and solve an array of finishing issues.

Bales developed the new online offerings amid shifting consumer preferences during the coronavirus pandemic. The free digital tools extend Bales’ finishing expertise and quality customer service online. They are said to simplify the finishing process, giving manufacturers access to valuable information about coatings and finishes anytime, anywhere from a mobile device. The tools are available on Bales’ new website at www.balesusa.com. The new site also features a streamlined request for quote (RFQ) process. Bales’ new digital finishing tools are Bales Mold Doctor, a Coatings Comparison Tool and Preventative Maintenance Video Series.

The Bales Mold Doctor combines Bales’ surface experts with video conferencing to help manufacturers diagnose their tooling issues virtually. During a 15-minute video call, a manufacturer can take the Bales Mold Doctor onto their shop floor to troubleshoot a specific tooling issue. The Bales Mold Doctor eliminates the need for an in-person appointment, making the troubleshooting process faster, safer and more efficient. Manufacturers can quickly view and book appointment times on the Bales website. Same-day appointments are available.

The Coatings Comparison Tool is an interactive, self-service resource for assessing Bales’ surface coatings. It displays a side-by-side comparison of up to three coatings for multiple performance indicators. These include the Rockwell hardness, coefficient of friction and corrosion and abrasion resistance. The tool collates critical information about Bales’ coating in one place, making it easier for engineers to determine the best surface treatment early on in the component production process.

The Preventative Maintenance Video Series teaches manufacturers how to prevent corrosion and wear on their equipment through regular and routine maintenance. Developed to optimize performance and service life, the video series is hosted by Bales’ in-house finishing experts who have decades of industry experience.
