SPE announces the opening of its new headquarters office in Connecticut. Located at 100 Reserve Rd, Suite B310 in Danbury, the SPE office will be situated in the Summit at Danbury, a 1.3 million square foot living, working, and recreational environment located within 99 wooded acres. Well-known in the plastics industry, the Summit property was formerly home to Union Carbide’s headquarters building. Union Carbide pioneered the petrochemicals industry through the production of synthetic ethylene, which was developed into the industry's most important industrial hydrocarbon used in polyethylene (plastics).

“Our membership is made up of over 22,500+ plastics professionals worldwide who understand and appreciate Union Carbide’s legacy of plastics innovation,” said SPE President-Elect Dr. Jaime Gomez, who started his professional career in plastics as Senior Chemist in Union Carbide’s Silicones Division in 1989 and is currently president and CEO of Equitech. “The fact that SPE is moving into a space with such historical significance in our industry is inspiring. Being in this building speaks loudly about SPE and its ability to connect the present with the past. Union Carbide was one of the pioneers in the plastics industry so for SPE to be based in this building is very relevant and telling. And, on a personal level, the headquarters move into that space feels like a sort of homecoming having spent time there when I was first starting my career in plastics.”

Summit of Danbury offerings include 600,000 square feet of modern office space and over 400 residential units. Amenities include concierge-style reception and lobby, market/restaurant, covered parking, gym and fitness facilities, events area, executive conference suites and more. SPE’s office space is comprised of 4,870 square feet and will provide increased capacity to service SPE’s global membership, chapters, divisions and special interest groups.

“The ability to accommodate international meetings and events was a key driver for choosing this space,” said Patrick Farrey, CEO. “November 13th marks the first time we’ll be holding a full SPE Council meeting onsite in our office. Previously, meetings such as this were held remotely at various offsite locations. The ability to hold meetings and events in our home office is not only convenient, its efficient. I look forward to using our new HQ location to meet and conduct business.”

Accessibility was also an important consideration when choosing the location. SPE’s new home is located within minutes of I-84 and I-684 and is just a mile from the New York State line. All points in Westchester and Fairfield are within easy reach by highway and MetroNorth train stations, while New England, New York City and virtually the entire region can be quickly accessed. This move brings the SPE office to a centralized location for staff, leadership and members who are traveling to the area.

“We are fortunate to have found such a modern and well-served office space in the Danbury area,” said Farrey. “Our goal was to limit the impact that relocation could have on our members and staff. I don’t think we could have found a better location for our team. Our new location and enhanced operational efficiencies will help us continue to grow and keep pace with SPE’s needs, allowing us to provide exceptional value and superior service along the way.”

The office will open on October 31st and there will be an open house at the new location on November 13th.
