It was announced on March 15 that additive manufacturing (AM) industry veteran Kent Firestone has joined EOS North America (Novi, Michigan), a supplier of industrial 3D printing technologies for metals and polymers, as senior vice president of operations.

In his new role, Firestone will oversee the manufacturing, field service, logistics, quality and materials activities within EOS’ North American operations. Firestone possesses 30 years of experience in the AM industry and has served in numerous engineering, operations and management positions throughout his career.

“Kent possesses a rare mix of knowledge about AM and expertise working with organizations to understand and realize the benefits of implementing AM into their operations,” says Glynn Fletcher, president of EOS North America. “Industrial 3D printing has matured to a point where it's viable for production-ready parts and should absolutely be a tool in every manufacturer’s toolbox. Kent’s experience and leadership will play an important role in helping EOS get more organizations ingrained in AM moving forward.”

Prior to joining EOS, Firestone worked with Stratasys Direct (Los Angeles, California) for five years, most recently serving as CEO. He previously served in roles of increasing responsibility with Solid Concepts (Santa Clarita, California), DTM Corp. (Austin, Texas) and 3D Systems (Rock Hill, South Carolina) throughout his career. He holds a Master of Science in engineering management from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology from Tarleton State University.
