CNC Software/Mastercam Joins OMIC R&D for Innovative Manufacturing Solutions
Addition of Mastercam software to the collaboration will enable the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research and Development (OMIC R&D) to create new opportunities for the future development of manufacturing.
CNC Software Inc. (Tolland, Connecticut) developers of CAD/CAM software, Mastercam, has announced that it has become a member of the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research and Development (OMIC R&D, Scappoose, Oregon). OMIC R&D is a collaboration of national and international manufacturing companies and Oregon-based research universities who combine their knowledge, expertise and resources to find innovative, applied solutions to the challenges facing manufacturing, while creating new opportunities for the future development of manufacturing. Mastercam/CNC Software joins 39 other industry and university members in the collaboration.
“We are excited to have Mastercam as a member,” says Craig Campbell, executive director of OMIC R&D. “CNC Software Inc. will provide us with the ability to add uniform programming language that we can use on our broad range of machines, as well as opportunities in training and workforce development due to their investment in that area.”
Mastercam reportedly has 287,000 installations across the aerospace, automotive, medical, die/mold, consumer products, education and prototyping industries.
“I am excited that Mastercam has become a member of OMIC R&D,” adds Stas Mylek, partnership program manager of CNC Software Inc. “We immediately began discussing opportunities for Mastercam to engage in opportunities to introduce students to our premier programming language. This collaboration also aligns well with our dedication to R&D aimed at manufacturing technology. Our partnership will most definitely play a part in setting the tenor for the future of manufacturing.”
