CUMSA USA has officially announced the launch of its new e-commerce site, www.cumsausa.shop, as of September 30, 2019. This new site is only for U.S. and Canadian customers to purchase genuine CUMSA 2020 center inserts and daters along with other CUMSA traceability components. The goal with this new e-commerce site is to provide an easy way for mold builders and users to directly buy from the manufacturer. CUMSA USA (Troy, Michigan) is the North America division of CUMSA, the designer and manufacturer of all original CUMSA plastic injection mold components. Products are grouped into seven different categories: slides, undercuts, ejection, traceability, vacuum, accessories, and cylinders. The site is initially set up now to allow customers to buy authentic traceability CUMSA products, but CUMSA USA is considering incorporating components from the other categories in the future.
Big Kaiser has added inch standard sizes for the U.S. market to the production of its Big-Plus BBT30 basic arbors (shell mill holders, end mill holders, shrink fit and blanks). The first batch of products produced in the U.S. with inch standard sizes is now available. The expansion enables enhancements to the BBT30 program that satisfy demands specific to the North American market. Custom tools can be ordered, produced and delivered more quickly. An inch-based BBT30 shrink fit series is being introduced to complement the 10 metric sizes currently offered. Standard items available in sizes 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4-inch. StackTeck Systems Ltd. announces FastTrack, a new approach to fast mold deliveries using automated design capabilities that work with a pre-set, optimized set of mold design rules. As compared with custom designed molds, the engineering phase of every project will be reduced from three to four weeks to just a few days. The first phase that the company offers will cover single face molds for round lids and round air eject containers, with 2, 4, 6 or 8 cavities. Future development of this technology will cover a broader range of part types, as well as bigger cavitations and stack molds.
Desktop Metal announced the launch of H13 tool steel for Studio System, an office-friendly metal 3D-printing system for prototyping and low volume production. Characterized by its stability in heat treatment, exceptional hot hardness and abrasion resistance, H13 is a tool steel widely used in hot work applications. High toughness and hardness also make it an ideal metal for cold work tooling applications as well. According to the company, including H13 tool steel will enable designers and engineers to print such items as mold inserts for rapid iteration and reduction of manufacturing lead times, as well as achieve complex geometries. Early applications of H13 parts printed with the Studio System illustrate the benefits across a variety of industries, including medical, extrusion dies and fashion/consumer products.
