Every year the moldmaking community absorbs new industry talent, the number of which are increasingly young professionals just entering the workforce, or are still somewhat new compared to their more seasoned colleagues. The point is: The industry’s future workforce is here, and many of them—recruited from internships straight out of school, following in family footsteps, inducted from apprenticeship programs or drawn in after the completion of their college degree—have entered the workforce under the age of 30. 

To recognize their hard work, passion and overall involvement in the community, MoldMaking Technology called on the industry to nominate those in their own shops whohave stood out to them—as leaders, as employees who have expressed eagerness to learn from their mentors and get their hands dirty and who have dedicated themselves to the trade with drive, skill and grit. In addition to highlighting them in our “30 Under 30 Honors Program: Mentoring in the Next-Generation of Moldmaking Professionals” article (which also appears in our June 2021 issue) and recognizing them at Amerimold 2021 September 21-23 in Rosemont, Illinois, MMT has dedicated an entire page to acknowledging 2021 30 Under 30 nominees.

“MMT’s 30 Under 30 honors program is a testament to what is happening in this critical sector of manufacturing—the next-generation is here and ready to continue in the footsteps of the men and women who have helped to build the moldmaking industry,” says Editorial Director Christina Fuges.

Located under the drop-down menu beside the “Digital Demos” section in the website navigation bar, the 30 Under 30 honors program page is meant to continuously recognize all of your submitted 30 Under 30 nominations
year-round.

Available content will include:

  • Writeups about our past, present and future under 30 honorees (for example, see 2018’s nominees “30 Under 30: The New Face of Moldmaking”).
  • A link to nominate additional next-generation moldmaking professionals.
  • Bonus articles on mentoring, apprenticeships and education.

“When we started MoldMaking Technology back in 1998 the average age of our moldmaking reader was 56 years old,” says Fuges. “MMT’s 30 Under 30 honors program is showing that we are on our way to reversing that trend! The more we highlight the variety of talent entering the mold manufacturing marketplace and the myriad of rewarding career opportunities available in moldmaking, the more young professionals we will attract to advance this industry into the future!”
