On-the-go plastics professionals who plan to attend NPE2012 next month can access what they need to know to get the greatest benefit from their visit, no matter where they happen to be right now or during NPE week, it was announced today by SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, which produces the triennial NPE.

Two new resources, described in detail at www.npe.org/mobile, provide mobile-technology access to a wealth of online information about NPE2012 and give users new capabilities for managing show-related activities:

● NPE2012 iPad App. This enables an attendee to create and update a personal schedule, search for and tag exhibitors to be visited, take notes on booth visits or conference sessions, view the NPE2012 floor plan, participate in social media conversations, and much more. The free app can be installed by going to the App Store from an iPad and searching for NPE2012.

● NPE2012 Mobile Phone Site. Anyone who has a smart phone with a web browser can access this site, which enables the visitor to use Map Your Show, the official provider of the NPE2012 directory of exhibits and conference sessions. The visitor can also access a personal show planner, if he or she has set one up following registration.

In addition to these new capabilities, SPI has established NPE2012 social media sites on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn that give instant access to news about NPE2012 and provide networking opportunities.

Founded in 1937, SPI is the plastics industry trade association representing the third largest manufacturing industry in the United States. SPI's member companies represent the entire plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw materials suppliers. The U.S. plastics industry employs nearly1-million workers and provides more than $341 billion in annual shipments. www.plasticsindustry.org
