Microcut AG highlights Swiss honing systems for the fine machining of bores in mold manufacturing. The company also provides subcontracting work of high precision for bores in the diameter range of 0.015 – 16.0 mm (0.0006″ – 0.63″).
In terms of optimizing quality criteria, the company says it is achieves the first shot, no burr needed at the injection molded part. There is no pairing process necessary between needle and bore and therefore a longer service life of the mold.
Example as used for a hot runner system of injection molds:
- The optimum cylindrical shape as well as dimensional accuracy and surface are the most important requirements. This can result in less wear on the needle and needle bore. Due to the precise fit, no plastic will penetrate into the needle bore.
- Optimum roundness, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish are also significant factors. These prevent the formation of burrs on the injection molded part and increase the service life of the injection mold itself.
