Metro Mold & Design Expands Injection Molding Footprint
Metro Mold & Design’s expansion of press fleet represents ongoing investment in high-volume, low-mix molding solutions.
Metro Mold & Design (MMD), a contract manufacturing partner specializing in high-volume, low-mix molding solutions for consumer and industrial applications, recently added three Hydraulic Hybrid Engel presses, as well as a new Victory Engel 340-Ton press, to its shop floor. The expansion of the press fleet is part of the company’s ongoing capital investments in high-volume manufacturing processes that drive down program costs.
The Engel injection molding machines are integrated directly with high-speed automation and advanced robotics within an individual work cell. To create this integrated production environment, MMD worked with automation supplier, Ilsemann Automation, to integrate automation that ensures part quality, eliminates manual labor and drives down costs.
According to the company, these ongoing investments in equipment and advanced automation technologies enhance MMD’s ability to grow with its customers, pivot more quickly to meet new demand and produce greater ROI.
As demand for personal care products continues to escalate, MMD is said to be performing highly automated, long-run projects that help customers drive down costs to improve margins and overall profitability. The new machines are expected to enable MMD to meet growing customer demand within the consumer product sector.
