amerimold 2011: Successful Show Highlights Innovation and Optimism in Tool and Mold Manufacturing
More than 2,000 registrants connect to produce more technology, more leads and more sales at second annual amerimold.
amerimold– an event for tool and moldmaking, injection molding and rapid product development – closed on April 14th, 2011, at the Donald E. Stephens Center in Rosemont, IL. The two-day tradeshow, technical conference and networking event featured more than 2,000 registrants representing 42 states and 25 countries.
The amerimold exhibit hall included 106 exhibitors displaying technologies ranging from 5-axis machining centers to 3D printers; simulation software to cutting tools; mold components to materials. The show enjoyed increased exhibit hall attendance in 2011. The average amerimold exhibitor collected 57 leads and there were multiple reports of show floor equipment sales.
“After an ambitious debut in 2010, we set out to reposition amerimold much in the spirit of its predecessor, the MoldMaking Expo. In doing so, we focused on two things – providing great technical content and connecting buyers and sellers of manufacturing technology. In reviewing this show’s performance and speaking with exhibitors, we are confident that we delivered on both accounts and have positioned the event for great success, moving forward,” said Executive Director, Allison Miller.
This year’s technical conference consisted of two technology tracks – moldmaking and additive manufacturing. The conferences featured 117 registered attendees and 54 industry experts who explored technologies ranging from automated tooling to direct metal laser sintering. Complementing the traditional technical presentation format, interactive roundtables and panel presentations were introduced this year with lively discussions on management strategies, customer satisfaction and business development.
Completing the amerimold 2011 experience was a series of show floor and industry networking events. Edge Factor Creator / Producer Jeremy Bout and Modern Machine Shop Senior Editor Peter Zelinski delivered two keynote presentations on the show floor detailing “The Edge Factor: Episode 1 - The Chilean Mine Rescue.” Also on the show stage was a panel discussion on the revitalization of U.S. manufacturing. The panel presentation included, amongst others, Harry Moser, Founder, Reshoring Initiative and Scott Paul, Executive Director, Alliance for American Manufacturing. The special events schedule was punctuated by a casino-themed networking reception featuring hundreds of industry leaders.
In closing the successful 2011 campaign, show management announced that amerimold 2012 will be held June 13-14 at Novi, MI’s, Suburban Collection Showplace. On hosting amerimold 2012 in Novi, MI, Show Manager, David Necessary commented, “the Great Lakes region, particularly Michigan, Ohio, and Windsor, Ontario, offers an ideal audience for connecting buyers and sellers of equipment used for tool and mold machining, injection molding and additive manufacturing. In addition, we believe strongly in the resurgence of automotive manufacturing and the continued diversification of the Great Lakes industry. As a result, we are very excited to bring amerimold to Novi, MI, home to two successful MoldMaking Expos in 2006 and 2008.”
