Voestalpine eifeler Coatings announced the opening of its newest coatings facility in Walnut, California. The facility is strategically located to provide state of the art physical vapor deposition (PVD) coatings solutions to the manufacturing communities in California and the western United States. This facility will be operated by EDRO Engineering, a division of voestalpine and a leading supplier of custom mold bases, tool steels and non-ferrous alloys. According to the company, the facility will be operated by trained professionals who will provide services to existing customers and new markets. The Walnut facility is equipped with state of the art PVD arc and sputtering coating systems technology. This location also features the addition of diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings to the eifeler North America product portfolio, ideally suited for parts that require high sliding speeds, even without lubrication. The launch of the facility represents a new era for voestalpine eifeler Coatings in the United States with an expansion to the west coast to complement existing facilities in Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Mexico and Canada.
