The Hoffmann Group is celebrating the centennial anniversary of the company’s founding. In 2018, Hoffmann and its subsidiaries achieved sales topping $1.1 billion and the company’s workforce has reached more than 3,000 people.
The foundations of the company were laid by Josef Hoffmann on March 11, 1919, in Munich. His son Franz joined the business in 1932. In 1936, he created the Hoffmann catalog, which is now published in 18 languages and is available as an online shop. Starting in the 1950s, Franz Hoffmann aligned the business firmly towards the selling of tools supported by expert advice. He was also responsible for launching the company's personal product lines under the Garant brand name in 1973.
The third generation merged the company with the Gödde, Oltrogge and Perschmann businesses to form the Hoffmann Group. Now headed by the fourth generation of the Hoffmann family, the company with its partners has 69 subsidiaries in more than 50 countries.
