Alro Steel Expands Metal Offerings Via Pottinger Steel Acquisition
Third company purchase this year brings carbon steel, alloys, stainless steel, aluminum and other metals under Alro Steel’s distribution capabilities.
Cut-to-size metals and plastics provider Alro Steel announces an agreement to acquire Pottinger Steel in Racine, Wisconsin, with an expected close date of Nov. 3, 2023. This follows Alro’s other acquisitions this year, including Heimansohn Steel and Access Metals.
Pottinger Steel was founded in 1898 by Robert B. Pottinger as a blacksmith shop and general steel supplier. In 1970, the Pottinger family sold the company to Eugene Rinehart who grew the company to become an established steel service center. Pottinger offers a variety of metals, including carbon steel, alloys, stainless steel and aluminum, with same-day or next-day delivery in Wisconsin and Illinois.
According to the Pottinger Steel’s Rinehart family, “This acquisition will benefit our customers with expanded inventories of metals and additional processing capabilities.”
