Video: Mold Component Technology Solutions Boost Sustainability
Sustainable, productivity-boosting innovations for moldmakers, including stress relief, traceability and cooling solutions.
DME Product Manager Mike McCutcheon discusses how moldmakers can embrace sustainability with innovative solutions that improve productivity, reduce waste and support eco-friendly manufacturing, including:
- A stress-relieving machine that is a proven substitute for 80% to 90% of heat-treatment stress relief in metalworking applications. It improves the inconsistencies of the previous resonant vibration technology by using more efficient, more consistent "sub-harmonic" vibrational energy, which is the optimum vibration stress relief frequency. This eliminates need to send out products to heat treatment saving on transportation time and costs.
- Traceability inserts that in the near future will be able to track each individual shot. Currently, they send out information on dates.
- Mold undercuts and threading solutions that improve mold performance, including a durable collapsible core with spring-core applications, a dovetail core for round, rectangle or oval applications and a two-stage design that increases the undercuts up to 40%.
-
Cooling solutions like Flosense units that measure flow, temperature and pressure on a single flow channel using a single combined sensor and Cooling Care units for comprehensive cooling channel maintenance via a patented technology combining chemical and mechanical action to free and dissolve the unwanted material.
