Grab your popcorn and support a film dedicated to showing the value of manufacturing to the U.S. economy and to finding out if Made in the USA means anything anymore. "Made in the USA, The 30 Day Journey" was released last Tuesday. After seeing the awful effects resulting from a factory shutdown in his hometown of Ravenswood, WV, Josh Miller takes off to tour the country for 30 days to find out the answer to this question.

The film is a full-length documentary "exploring the rise and fall of USA made products. Josh Miller sets out on a journey in which he attempts to live off of USA made products for 30 days. Can he do it!?"Interestingly enough one of the stops along Josh's journey was to  The Rodon Group/K’NEX.

On a related note, at the amerimold expo in Rosemont, IL, on June 13th, we will have a show floor presentation highlighting the Made in USA issue:  Support Plastics USA—And What It Means for Your Workforce Development, by Robert Schiavone is Global Marketing Director for R&D/Leverage.

As an industry, we know the struggles and fight to keep America at work while still staying competitive in a global environment and we are proud of the multitude of organizations pushing the Made In America movement, but it’s all very fractured. A collective voice is needed. This presentation will shed light on efforts to do more than just “buy” American. It will demonstrate how increased collaboration among the product supply chain on innovation and technology can create a meaningful movement toward Design, Engineer and Manufacture in America. We are not competitors when it comes to this movement. The main purpose is to take the opportunity with the key personnel in this room to find a way to work together and bring the message of Made In America back.
