Over the past year I’ve been visiting and writing about quite a few shops lately that build very large molds for automotive, consumer products such as appliances and for recycle bins. Many of the companies used heavy-duty cranes to move molds through their shops, but the larger the molds get, not to mention the plant floor, the harder it must be to use a crane safely and efficiently to perform mold changes or transport molds for maintenance or storage, right? That was my thinking anyway. Then, as I was searching for the article I wanted to feature this week on Throwback Thursday, this little gem caught my eye. It discusses the benefits of using wheeled transporter technology for moving large molds through one’s shop. Tips are provided, too, for what to look for when purchasing this type of system.
