The Face of our Next-Generation Moldmaker
Is this the face? Cute, huh? My son couldn't wait to put on the American Mold Builders Association t-shirt and dog tags given out by Byrne Tool during the AMBA Convention last month. And his big smile made me think about the real lack of enthusiasm our next generation of workers has when it comes to the trades, and how it is up to us to change that mindset. Next week we can kickstart that conversation during amerimold at the June 13, 10-11:30am Panel: How to Be a Part of the Solution to Our Skilled Labor Shortage.

This session will provide an open dialogue to share real-world successful solutions to our skilled labor shortage—including case studies of successful employee development programs and apprenticeships, methods for attracting young people into the machining and moldmaking trades, ideas for skills development and technical improvement, processes for finding and training apprentices, and strategies for leveraging partnerships with high schools and tech schools.
