Toolholding System Generates Extremely High Clamping Forces
Rego-Fix will feature its industry-leading powRgrip toolholding collet system at SOUTHTEC 2019. The toolholder generates extremely high clamping forces equal to or higher than those of shrink-fit holders.
Rego-Fix will feature its industry-leading powRgrip toolholding collet system at SOUTHTEC 2019. The toolholder generates extremely high clamping forces equal to or higher than those of shrink-fit holders.
The system is a safe, precise and cost-effective system developed especially for high-speed cutting and high-performance cutting strategies, which helps overcome challenges of difficult-to-machine materials, aggressive metal removal requirements or machining situations involving long, awkward tool overhangs. It consists of three main components, holder, collet and press fit assembly mounting unit, which work together to generate superior clamping force, high-vibration dampening and extreme precision. The system uses the mechanical properties of the holder material to generate tremendous gripping force with tool run-out below 0.0001-inch. Interchangeable collets are available from 1/8-inch to 1-inch, including metric sizes, and will hold both carbide and HSS tools. Designed for easy operation and use, the system takes less than 10 seconds to press in a tool or remove it from the holder. Because no heat is used, tools can be used immediately after a tool change.
The versatile powRgrip product line offers several ancillary technologies and accessories, as well as specific sizes that further optimize machining operations. For aerospace applications, large size powRgrip PG 32 collets are especially well suited for machining components made from Inconel® and titanium. The secuRgrip technology, which combines powRgrip’s tremendous gripping strength with a patented locking key system, is suited for applications such as heavy-duty material removal and the machining of expensive castings or complex parts. Plus, powRgrip Xtended length toolholders deliver tool holding precision and stability for machining applications that require longer reach or present clearance challenges.
Likewise, manufacturers in defense industries can pair powRgrip with ER collets offered in two levels of precision, standard and ultra-precision that provide the lowest possible TIR of less than 0.0002-inch (5 microns) over the entire clamping range to achieve exact tolerances and extraordinary surface finishes. For turning machines, the company’s floating chucks compensate for axis errors between the chuck and the bore when reaming and tapping. The tool’s self-centering feature ensures very precise positioning of the reaming or tapping tool.
