Machining Center Provides Robust, Dynamic Milling Qualities
Roughing and finishing deep mold and die cavities is optimized using Chiron’s FZ 16 S five-axis machining center equipped with an HSK-A 100 interface, enabling reduced chatter, dynamic machining and the ability to tackle difficult materials.
Today’s demanding machining applications, where components are machined from a solid block, or workpieces are required to have deep cavities or have hog-out requirements, need machining centers which combine optimum milling performance with maximum precision. This is where the new FZ 16 S five-axis by Chiron America Inc., with an HSK-A 100 interface, comes in.
The FZ 16 S is primarily designed to provide fast, very precise and dynamic machining capabilities. It is now available with the HSK-A 100 interface for high milling performance when rough machining and maximum precision when finishing. With a powerful main spindle (10,000-30,000 rpm and up to 107 hp) with a torque of 295 ft-lbf, the new machine variant is predestined for machining difficult components made even from high temperature-resistant materials, such as titanium or nickel-based alloys.
Together with the moving gantry design, which ensures high static and dynamic rigidity, the HSK-A 100 interface provides the foundation for particularly high machining rates and also enables users to machine very deep cavities, making this five-axis machine optimal for mold and die. While the FZ 16 S drives provide the required dynamics, the robust basic design and high thermal stability ensure maximum precision. Moreover, chatter is reduced, and tool lifetime and material removal rates are increased.
