Joy Abbitt Joins MC Machinery Distributor, BlueTec Machinery

Joy Abbitt has joined MC Machinery (Elk Grove, Illinois) distributor BluTec Machinery (Hickory, North Carolina) as a Florida territory manager.

A subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corp. (Tokoyo, Japan), MC Machinery is a premier North American supplier and servicer of fabrication equipment, including Mitsubishi lasers and automation systems. BluTec Machinery is a distributor for MC Machinery’s complete line of Mitsubishi lasers, automation, press brakes and shears, covering Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, eastern Tennessee and part of West Virginia. BluTec also works with customers at MC Machinery’s new Southeast Technology Center in Concord, North Carolina.

Abbitt has worked in advanced machinery sales and service for the past seven years. A Navy veteran and graduate of the U.S. Naval Aviation Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Florida, Abbitt served on the U.S.S. Carl Vinson as an avionics technician on F-18 Super Hornet fighter jets.

Abbitt says she wanted to work with BluTec Machinery to represent MC Machinery fabrication equipment because of the high integrity of both companies. “Working for and with organizations that provide quality products and stand by those products with superior service is very important to me,” she says.

MC Machinery North American Sales Manager for Fabrication Shane Herendeen points out that Abbitt’s strong background in machinery, engineering and aviation will be an asset in her new role.

“Joy’s technical knowledge will be of great value to our manufacturing customers who are looking for fabrication machines and systems that provide solutions,” Herendeen says.

An advocate for increasing the number of women in the manufacturing industry, Abbitt will be the guest on an upcoming episode of MC Machinery’s Minds on Manufacturing podcast, where she discusses her career in male-dominated fields.
