Evco Plastics Expansion Adds 12th Facility, Reaches 117,000 Square Feet
The campus is expanding for the second time in three years to meet increased demand in plastic injection molding. New equipment is to be added, as well as additional storage for molds and finished parts.
Plastics injection molder Evco Plastics recently broke ground on two additions to its manufacturing campus in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The west-end addition will be a 106,957-square-foot facility, making it the company’s 12th global facility. The 10,516-square-foot north-end addition will be connected to the existing facility, totaling 117,473 square feet between the two. On completion, the Oshkosh campus will total 247,473 square feet.
“Customer demand continues to increase in the Fox Valley, and the need for additional square footage to support both contract manufacturing and large part molding efforts is significant,” Kate Bashir, vice president of strategy, says. “After assessing the capabilities at our facility and the specific needs of our customers, expanding our footprint was the clear solution. The extra space and supporting equipment will help meet long-term production goals and customers’ ongoing needs and high expectations.”
The west-end building, which will be known as OSH2, will serve primarily for contract manufacturing lines and warehousing storage for molds and finished parts. It will also feature individual automation and tooling areas, as well as an enclosed room dedicated for part grinding.
To support the increased production needs across the campus, new equipment will be added, including a 4,400-ton press, 40-ton crane, 3,000-pound dryer and 72-zone heat controller. With the inclusion of the new machinery, Evco Oshkosh will have a total of 25 molding machines ranging from 85 to 4,400 tons and four cranes ranging from 7.5 to 80 tons.
More customer work also means more people to get the job done. Employment at Evco Oshkosh has increased 25% since 2020 and will continue with the completion of the expansion. A weekend shift will be added to keep pace with key projects, and the company is hiring across many technical positions.
The additions will be fully operational by November 2023.
