(Almost) Meeting the POTUS!

Last Friday I was in the same room as President Barack Obama when he visited The Rodon Group. No matter your political affiliation, I hope we can all agree it was an honor to be in our Chief-of-Staff’s company as he continues to urge Congress to renew middle class tax cuts.

Last Friday I was in the same room as President Barack Obama when he visited The Rodon Group. No matter your political affiliation, I hope we can all agree it was an honor to be in our Chief-of-Staff’s company as he continues to urge Congress to renew middle class tax cuts. According to the press release I received, the President decided to visit a business that depends on middle class consumers during the holiday season, and could be impacted if taxes go up on 98 percent of Americans at the end of the year. The Rodon Group—the sole American manufacturer for K’NEX Brands, a construction toy company whose products include Tinkertoy, K’NEX Building Sets and Angry Bird Building Sets—certainly relies on the holiday season to be a profitable one. Read about their success here. The Rodon Group and K’NEX Brands, both third-generation family businesses, employ more than 150 people at their Hatfield facilities.

The crowd—which included employees and a great deal of press from local TV stations, newspapers and trade magazines—gave the President a warm welcome and responded to his remarks with enthusiasm and applause. He urged everyone to get involved by contacting their Congressional Representatives to keep income taxes from going up on middle-class families. “I want you to call, I want you to send an email, post on their Facebook wall,” Obama emphasized. “If you tweet, then use a hashtag we're calling ‘My2K.’ Not Y2K, ‘My2K,’ all right? Because it’s about your ‘2K’ in your pocket. We’re trying to burn that into people’s minds here.”
