iD Additives Inc. now offers a two-step cooling line cleaning system for extruders, which will be demonstrated at Amerimold 2021 in September. The Eco-Pro and Cool EX system is reportedly used to restore cooling lines that are partially or fully clogged due to calcium, rust and scaling. According to the company, this is a common problem that is usually the result of poor-quality plant water.
First, Eco-Pro and cart are connected to the extruder to flush out and clean the clogged cooling lines. Then, once the system is cleaned out, introduce the Cool EX coolant in place of water to ensure continued clean performance
iD Additives says this system is ideal for single-screw, twin-screw and co-extruder systems. The Cool EX coolant can be used in the feed section, cooling jackets, cooling plates, heat exchangers and any other closed-loop sections currently utilizing water.
Depending on the condition of the extruder’s cooling lines, Eco-Pro & Cool EX system users don’t necessarily have to restore their systems prior to introducing the Cool EX coolant, the company notes. While taking the time to do a system restoration and clean out the cooling lines with Eco-Pro is ideal, using Cool EX immediately as a water replacement will help prevent further degradation and buildup to the system until users are able to perform a flushing with the Eco-Pro 360.
