Established in 1990, Romeo, Michigan-based Mac-Mold Base has more than 30 years of experience in the mold manufacture industry. The company specializes in 3D machining, and can handle large plate capacity. The use of multi-axis machining centers and its complete in-house support services enable Mac-Mold Base to streamline its processes and ensure on-time delivery.
An additional service also includes 3D machining and surface contouring for mold and die-cast companies, using either a vertical or horizontal mill that can handle large molds. 3D machining and surface contouring capabilities reportedly allow Mac-Mold Base to build complete mold bases that have surfaced cavity and cores, while also relieving stress and material warping. Further, the company’s wide range of CNC equipment is said to cut the most difficult contours, while holding the tightest tolerances. Customers are able to dictate what type, size and how full they would like the job milled.
Mac-Mold Base is best known for custom mold bases. However, it also offers contract gundrilling in standard and metric 0.250-2.0 capacity (larger diameter holes up to 2.75″ can be obtained with special tooling), spot faces, counter bores, special angle setups and taps with a quick turn-around. Mac-Mold Base utilize both conventional and STS drilling.
