All-in-One CNC System Advances Speed, Accuracy, Operability for Moldmakers
Enhanced functionalities regarding surface roughness and roundness measurements, faster axes drive speeds and more ergonomic controls exemplifies Mitutoyo’s latest RTX Roundtrace Extreme.
Mitutoyo America Corp. announces the release of the RTX Roundtracer Extreme, an all-in-one measuring system that integrates roundness, contour and surface roughness measurement functions on a single platform to save moldmakers time and improve productivity. The advanced CNC machine is said to utilize speed, accuracy and operability at the highest level to measure a wide variety of workpieces with various geometries, such as camshafts and bearings.
According to Mitutoyo, a new motorized sliding axis, detector and detector holder gives the system the ability to change the stylus angle, making it easier to perform an inside diameter measurement of thick workpieces while avoiding interference. Higher reproducibility and optimized theta-axis drive speed is achieved through increased turntable rigidity. Increased maximum measuring diameter, support for 3D surface texture measurement and lead (twist) analysis is reported to advance surface roughness measurement, and faster X and Z axes drive speeds — with a maximum of 100mm/sec — works alongside improved positioning accuracy, reducing positioning times compared with conventional models. An ergonomic remote box enhances the user’s experience with clearly laid out buttons and controls
