Moldmakers and repair shops can benefit from learning the applications and benefits of both TIG and laser welding for mold repair, and Sunstone Engineering was ready and waiting to help educate attendees at Amerimold 2015 on both technologies. While typical repair costs for plastic injection molds, die and tools can be costly, Sunstone has a solutoin in its Orion welders, and the company demonstrated the technology for attendees.

The Orion 250s and 200i2 use pulse-arc technology to create strong, precise, clean weld spots. They can fill porosity, repair manufacturing defects, add material to damaged surfaces and run a bead of metal to create a seam weld. The interface is said to be easy to use and view.

Orion LZR60 and LZR100 laser welders are small, but powerful tabletop machines that deliver a higher-duty cycle to meet demanding work needs. These models require only 21-1/2" x 24" x 18" of workspace and weigh less than 100 lbs.
