“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” is a phrase commonly used to describe the mutual benefit of relationships. The AMBA took that concept 65 men and women further November 13 with a Plant Tour Workshop at Ameritech Die and Mold in Mooresville, N.C. Mold shop owners and key personnel from around the country attended the event to see the work flow and learn from Ameritech, an industry leader.

Ameritech owner Steve Rotman says "I've been a believer in the AMBA Plant Tour Workshops from the beginning, yet I was surprised how much we got out of hosting this event. My team worked hard preparing the shop for show, and even the young guys stepped up to develop their own presentations about their departments' role in our manufacture of molds." Rotman goes on to say that the long hours of careful preparation all seemed worthwhile when the crew saw firsthand the interest that attendees demonstrated with their questions and input. "A week later, there is still an attitude shift fueled by the staff's contact with other mold shops. They heard a lot of compliments and some suggestions for improvements as well. They understand better than ever why we do some things the way we do. Our shop is better for having hosted the event," reports Rotman.
