iWarriors Return from Balboa Naval Hospital!
This wonderful organization just got back from a trip to the West Coast where they handed out 16 iPads to deserving wounded veterans. Won’t you be a part of this ongoing effort to honor those who have fallen fighting for our freedom?
Kim and Tim Bartz present an iPad to a deserving veteran.
Kim and Tim Bartz—co-founders of iWarriors—just returned from a trip to Balboa Naval hospital in San Diego where they once again donated iPads to wounded veterans. As always, Kim shares that she was so inspired by spending time these heroes and hearing their stories. “One Marine in particular wants his lower leg to be amputated so he can be spared the pain and immobility he is experiencing,” Kim says. “He sees what a prosthetic has done for others and wants the same for himself so that he may be able to run and play with his young children once again.”
Kim explained to me that not only do iPads help veterans keep in touch with family and friends while they cannot be with them while they attend rehab, they can also be used to download apps that improve cognitive and memory skills for those who have suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury).
The couple also stopped at Workshop for Warriors—a non-profit vocational training center for veterans that provides manufacturing trades education and hands-on-training to prepare graduates for careers in welding, CAD/Solidworks/Mastercam software, milling, machining, machinery repair, CNC plasma cutting, woodworking, diesel and gasoline engine repair, and fabrication.
Kudos to Kim and Tim—as well as all mold manufacturers who donate to this worthy cause! Please contact them if you are interested in joining iWarriors on a future trip.
