Modular Reference System Boosts Smart Moldmaking Productivity
System 3R combines tooling automation and software, minimizes setup times and enhances productivity when moving workpieces from one process to the next.
System 3R’s modular tooling reference system has moldmakers in mind, as it is designed to help boost manufacturing output through smart productivity solutions regardless of machine make or model. In fact, System 3R’s automation and modular workholding was developed specifically for the moldmaking process to transfer parts from one process to the next, the company notes, as is all of its technologies.
System 3R — tooling, automation and software — minimizes setup times while maximizing spindle uptime for high output. Shops can increase profitability working with tooling systems for EDM and electrode manufacturing and parts production, to name a few. System 3R Automation, for instance, offers scalable automation solutions for 24/7 production. Among those are the company’s WorkPal 1, WorkPartner 1+, Transformer WorkMaster and Transformer six-axis robots, all of which are said to shorten lead times and maximize ROI by maximizing capacity for loading and unloading both parts and electrodes.
System 3R’s software solutions are designed to be user-friendly. The company’s software portfolio packages — including WorkShopManager, CellManager, EasyCellManager, CellManager Light and BatchBuilder — provide an overview of the entire process chain, and can make information regarding workpieces, magazine positions, offset values and NC programs readily available.
WorkShopManager is used for integration of all shop operations. CellManager is for up to 12 machines in a cell and supports different types of machines such as milling, sinker and wire EDM, laser, coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and cleaning. EasyCell Manager applies to one to four machines, supporting milling and laser texturing only. EasyCellManager Light is for robotless systems encompassing as many as 12 machines in a cell with different types of machines. BatchBuilder, an entry-level software enables user to create job batches to run in their robot cells that have various types of milling, sinker and wire EDM, laser and CMM machines.
